As a licensed school psychologist, David Wamsley brings 45 years of direct experience to Education Station. His experience has included completion of over 19,000 individual psychoeducational evaluations for 37 school districts in West Virginia and Ohio. This experience has also included the provision of individual and group counseling and consultation. Mr. Wamsley co-authored a preschool screening program that initiated preschool screenings in the state of West Virginia and included direct service to approximately 20,000 preschoolers and families from 1975 to 1999.
Mr. Wamsley specializes in helping students who have exhibited indicators associated with learning disabilities, mild/moderate cognitive deficit, severe cognitive deficit, cerebral palsy, hearing and vision impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder/ADHD, anxiety and related disorders, compulsive disorders, depression/despondency, as well as the typical behaviors associated with opposition, resistance, passage through the teenage years, and children who do not appear to fall into any particular classification.
Mr. Wamsley earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, his graduate degree in School Psychology from Miami University of Ohio, and he has completed coursework in neuropsychology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He had two years of teaching experience in public schools and Head Start prior to becoming a school psychologist. He worked for the Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) from 1974 to1981 prior to becoming an Independent Practitioner. He is licensed to practice in West Virginia and Ohio.
